02 — Series Overview

The Story

In 1763, a secret treaty sells New Orleans like cargo. A city erupts. A man who never wanted power becomes the only man who can save his people — and sets the world on a course toward catastrophe two centuries later.

1
He doesn't want power
Philippe Fontainebleau is a 50-year-old mixed-race Creole who lives between worlds, trusted by none. The revolution finds him — not the other way around.
2
But history has chosen him
A voodoo priestess has been waiting for him since the night he was born. A rebellion needs a face. A people need a king. Destiny does not ask permission.
3
And the world will never recover
The kingdom he builds will last 277 years — and produce a rival superpower that brings the United States to the edge of nuclear annihilation in 2040.
03 — Tone & World

Grounded. Gritty. Cinematic.

🔥
Fire-lit & intimate
Candle-lit cabins, bayou mist, smoke-filled streets. Handheld realism inside epic historical scale.
Political & strategic
Power struggles within the rebellion. External threats from empires. Every alliance costs something.
Mythic & prophetic
Destiny. Prophecy. Legacy. A voodoo priestess who has always known. A shadow that wears a crown.
The Louisiana Purchase never happens
Spain never takes control. New Orleans rebels — and wins. A continent is redrawn not by treaty, but by blood.
A new power rises in North America
The Kingdom of New Orleans. Born from fire. Built on a covenant. The first nation in the Western Hemisphere to abolish slavery — before the United States exists.
Two ideologies. One continent. No peace.
A monarchy born from revolution. A republic born with chains in its founding documents. They helped each other into existence. They will spend 277 years trying to destroy each other.

What Drives Every Episode

01
Power within the rebellion
Each faction has its own agenda. The coalition that won the revolt must now survive governing.
02
External threats from empires
France. Spain. Britain. The American colonies. Everyone wants Louisiana. The Kingdom must outmaneuver them all.
03
Philippe's personal transformation
Reluctant rebel → leader of a people → king of a nation. A man searching for who he was before history chose him.
04
Building a nation from nothing
What does a truly free nation look like when the people building it have never been allowed to imagine one? Every law is a debate. Every decision is a test.
Central dramatic question
Can a revolution survive long enough to become a nation — without becoming the thing it revolted against?

11 — Why This Show / Why This Series

Why This Series

✔ Character journey
A protagonist unlike any other
A 50-year-old mixed-race Creole man erased at birth, raised without identity, chosen by prophecy, forced to build a nation from fire. Philippe Fontainebleau has no equivalent in prestige television.
✔ Episode-to-episode engine
Designed for binge progression
Every episode ends with a power shift, a revelation, or an irreversible choice. The backstory reveal arc gives viewers a mystery that deepens across the entire season.
✔ Diverse ensemble
A world that looks like the world
Creoles, freedmen, Germans, Acadians, Manilamen, French dissenters, Spanish defectors, Indigenous allies. Not tokenism — a multiethnic coalition as the story's structural foundation.
✔ Fresh alternate history
The gap no one has filled
No major series has explored an alternate history where the moral failure of American slavery produces a rival superpower on the same continent — one that is not a villain, but a mirror.
✔ Long-form scope
Multiple seasons. One prophecy.
From 1763 to 2040. A story spanning generations, each season a new chapter in a 277-year collision. Built for long-form serialized storytelling.
✔ Emotional stakes
Story immersion, not sales language
Political epic. Personal identity drama. Mythic prophecy. Every viewer finds a different entry point. Everyone stays for the same reason: they need to know how it ends.
